Fishing industry awaits investments
On 23 June, in Khabarovsk, Deputy Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) Vitaly Korolev took part in a joint session of the Collegiums of the Office of the Prosecutor’s General of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Developing Far East.
Participants discussed enforcement of the law on fishery, aquatic culture and preserving water biological resources in the Far East Federal District (FEFD).
The Prosecutor’s General of the Russian Federation, Yuri Chaika; the Minister of the Russian Federation for Far East Development, Alexander Galushka; the Governors of the subjects of the Russian Federation; representatives of sectoral NGOs; top executives of fishery and fish-farming organizations in FEFD.
"Attracting investments and improving the investment climate in the Far East is an important priority of FAS work. The Antimonopoly Service has developed a number of initiatives in this area: on improving the law on foreign investments as well as in other spheres. It is very important to direct investments to developing deep processing of aquatic biological resources harvested in Russian Far East rather than in foreign countries”, continued the Deputy Head of FAS. "To this purpose, we propose a set of customs-and-tariff policy measures to build up processing capacities and establish new productions and jobs in the region".
Based on the discussions, a package of joint measures is devised aimed at developing the fishing sector, reducing administrative barriers, improving law-making and enforcement.
