Demand for food products will increase twofold
“The world food product market is on the edge of global changes. In 15 years the demand for food products on the world market will increase twofold”, stated the Head of FAS Department for Control over Chemical Industry and the Agro-Industrial Complex, Anna Mirochinenko, at the Business Summit – “Strong Russia 2016”. The event, focused on the issues of enhancing competitiveness of Russian economy was organized by the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Fund for Developing Innovative Business and the Strategic Programmes Agency.
Anna Mirochinenko took part in a section on “Food safety. Accelerated modernization of Russian agricultural and food product complex.” She made a presentation on “Exterritorial impact on Russian market in the context of import substitution”.
Anna Mirochineno outlined proposals that should encourage import substitution in such an important segment of food product market as supplying genetic materials, particularly, state support to establishing agricultural genetic centres and the mechanisms of implementing selection achievement, the rights for which belong to the state.
An important step in this area can be expanding the antimonopoly law to the practice of abusing the IP rights as a tool to monopolize the agrarian market.
The “Strong Russia” Business Summit started in 2009. Every year it is attended by up to 1000 persons including top executives of Russian and foreign companies, governors, the heads of specialized ministries and bodies, representatives of regional authorities, expert and investment communities, academia, the largest Russian NGOs and the leading mass media.
