It came into force on 2016 and was designed to reduce administrative burden upon business

Deputy Head of FAS Sergey Puzyrevsky presented the main results of enforcement of the novelized Law “On Protection of Competition”.

He pointed out that the number of initiated and investigated cases decreased twofold: 9092- in 2015 and 404 - in 2016.

“There are several reasons. First, the amendments enable transferring some cases to the “fast track” category, when it was necessary to promptly restore the rights and interests of consumers. Second, expanding the institution of warning”, continued Sergey Puzyrevsky.

Regarding statistics, Deputy Head of FAS stated that in 2016 FAS issued 5438 warnings, of which 4215were executed (76.8%).

“FAS repeatedly reported that around half of all cases are opened against the authorities, added Sergey Puzyrevsky. “Earlier we initiated cases against representatives of the authority, now we issue warnings. According to the statistics, 3444 warnings were issued to the authorities for signs of violating the antimonopoly law”, concluded Sergey Puzyrevsky.
