Countering cartels is an integral part of the criminal law policy of the state

Cartelization of Russian economy was discussed at the X Kudryavtsev Readings at the Institute of State and Law of the Russian Academy of Sciences

The Readings that took place on 10 April 2017 focused on the “Most recent criminal policy: systemic issues and methods of solving them”.

Head of FAS Anti-Cartel Department Andrey Tenishev informed the event participates about cartelization of the economy and the current criminal-law policy.

Andrey Tenishev stated: “Criminal sanctions against cartel participants should become one of the key elements of countering cartels. 2-3 precedent sentences on cartel would be enough to deter other from joining price-maintaining cartels”.

*The Reading were attended by representatives of the Office of the President of the Russian Federation, the Federal Assembly  of the Russian Federation, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation, the Investigation Committee of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Interior, FAS Russia, the Eurasian Economic Commission, the Pubic Chamber of the Russian Federation, the Federal Counsel Chamber, the Association of Employees of the Law Enforcement Bodies and Special Services of the Russian Federation, Association of Russian Banks, Moscow Counsel Chamber, Moscow State University, Moscow State Institute of International Relations, Moscow State Law University, Russian State University of Administration of Justice, the Academy of the Investigation Committee of the Russian Federation, the Academy of the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation, the Administration Academy of the Ministry of Interior, the leading Russian and foreign specialists in criminology, criminal law and criminal procedure.
