FAS analyses the market of barrier contraceptives to develop price-reduction mechanisms

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) and the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) discussed prices for barrier contraceptives

Head of Rospotrebnadzor, Chief Official Sanitary Doctor of the Russian Federation, Anna Popova, made a presentation at the “Senses Territory” All-Russian Educational Forum about “HIV – how to save your life and health of your close ones. NGO practices”. At the Q&A session, NGO representatives emphasized high costs of barrier contraceptives.

The Federal Antimonopoly Serviceis already involved in resolving the issue.  “We are analyzing the market of barrier contraceptives to develop price-reduction mechanisms*”, said Deputy Head of FAS Andrey Kashevarov. “Relevant proposals will be submitted in the Q III 2017”.

Information requests are duly prepared and sent to the economic entities.

* To execute Clause 20 of the Action Plan on implementing the State Strategy to counter spread of HIV-infection in the Russian Federation for the period up to 2020 and further, approved by No. 754-r Order of the Government of the Russian Federation of 20.04.2017.
