Head of FAS Department for Industry Control, Nelli Galimkhanova, took part in a meeting with the authorities and Russian consumer goods manufacturers, organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

Apart from import substitution, the attendees discussed possible measures of protection from counterfeit fabric supplies of special clothes for state-run companies and companies with state participation.

Nelli Galimkhanova said that FAS believes that it is necessary to support Russian industry. At the same time, support measures should not be exclusively prohibitive for foreign manufacturers of similar goods. Fair competition between goods manufacturers should encourage development of technologies and innovations, reduce costs, which ultimately should lead to scientific- and-technological progress and adequate market prices.

“The mechanism of preferences for Russian-made goods, established, for instance, in No. 925 Decree of the RF Government and No.155 Order of the Ministry of Economic Development, is one of possible, efficient measures to support domestic producers”, informed Nelli Galimkhanova.
