Analyzing the airfare pricing system
Following the instructions from the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, at the end of September the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) requested information about the system of airfare pricing, sales and booking from the largest Russian airlines.
FAS points out that “Aeroflot” responded promptly and provided exhaustive answers to the questions. FAS expects other companies to respond within two weeks and hopes that their answers will be as complete and exhaustive as the information submitted by “Aeroflot”. All obtained data will be analyzed carefully in order to establish periodical airfare surges.
FAS emphasizes that the primary concern is about a sharp increase of airfare for such socially important routes as flights to Kaliningrad, Crimea and the Far East.
FAS will report the findings upon completing the work.
