Igor Artemiev led a joint session of the Research Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on Competition Protection and the Expert Council of the Supreme Attestation Commission on Law under the Ministry of the Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
The event on 24 October was chaired by Head of FAS Igor Artemiev and a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Andrey Lisitsyn-Svetlanov and First Vice-Rector of Moscow State Law Academy, Professor Elena Gracheva.
In the welcoming remarks Igor Artemiev outlined the main challenges that the antimonopoly regulation faces in digital economy and globalization. Among the necessary steps to develop antimonopoly regulation he mentioned a new Chapter to the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition” on intellectual property. “Instructions to make changes to the antimonopoly law was given to FAS upon the 11th Annual Report on the State of Competition in Russia”, emphasized Igor Artemiev. “The amendments should be passed during this coming year”.
Discussing the agenda, Head of FAS pointed out at the importance of adding “Competition Law” to the list of academic specializations, on which post-graduate and advance academic degrees are awarded: “We have been talking for many years that such specialization is necessary, and with transferring the tariff regulation powers to FAS it is important to think over a possibility of including such specialists in the list”.
