COMPETITION AUTHORITIES OF RUSSIA AND ITALY SHOULD CONTINUE JOINT EFFORTS TO PREVENT ANTIMONOPOLY VIOLATIONS

Plenty of violations have already gone beyond the boundaries of a single state, becaming cross-border

 

Stats-Secretary, Deputy Head of FAS Andrey Tsarikovsky talked about it at a meeting with Chairman of Italy’s Competition Authority, Giovanni Pitruzzella. Andrey Tsarikovsky outlined the Order of the President of the Russian Federation “On the main areas of the state policy towards competition development”.

 

“This is the first such document in our history. The main objectives are enhancing consumer satisfaction and economic efficiency and competitive ability of economic entities, as well as sustainable growth and developing mixed economy in Russia”, said Andrey Tsarikovsky.

 

Deputy Head of FAS highlighted a case against “Novartis Rus” based upon the fact of fixing monopolistically high price for “Tyverb”. Andrey Tsarikovsky expressed his gratitude to representatives of Italian antimonopoly body for their active involvement in the efforts of the Working Group for studying competition on the pharmaceutical markets, since it is exchanging experiences between agencies that enable preventing many cross-border violations on the socially important markets.  Deputy Head of FAS thanked Giovanni Pitruzzella for fine organization of a workshop of the International Competition Network on unilateral behaviour on 30 November – 1 December 2017 in Rome.

 

Finally Andrey Tsarikovsky proposed to focus the next session of the Pharmaceuticals Working Group on: “Pricing for antiretroviral therapy drugs” at an International Conference on HIV / AIDS in Eastern Europe and Central Asia that will be held in Moscow on 18 - 20 April 2018 and invited representatives of Italy’s Competition Authority to St Petersburg International Legal Forum in St Petersburg on 15 - 19 May 2018.
