IGOR ARTEMIEV: FAS RUSSIA AND SAINT PETERSBURG STATE UNIVERSITY SIGNED AN AGREEMENT ON DEVELOPING COOPERATION IN RUSSIA
On 1 February 2018, Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service Igor Artemiev and Rector of St Petersburg State University, Nikolai Kropachev, signed an Agreement on Cooperation.
The Agreement is the first document of a kind signed between the antimonopoly body and the University. The subject matter of the Agreement is cooperation in expert, research and education fields, particularly, implementing the National Competition Development Plan, approved by an Order of the President of Russia.
It is expected that the parties will carry out large-scale expert and research works on the most pressing issues of developing and protecting competition and drafting joint proposals on amendments to Russian antimonopoly law. Significant attention will be paid to improving the law enforcement practice, developing international cooperation and devising and introducing academic disciplines in the training programmes for specialists of all areas.
“It is a very important event for the Federal Antimonopoly Service. We, as the competition authority want to employ the entire potential of cooperation with St Petersburg State University to develop competition in Russia”, emphasized Head of FAS Igor Artemiev. “All our programme of joint work is aimed, first of all, at implementing the National Competition Development Plan. It is an essential document of strategic planning, on which we cast fantastic hopes. Together with the University we will be able to achieve good results. Russia has top-level education and science. The University can formulate not just a goal to which we may aspire limitlessly, but also the way to implement the Plan”.
“Since the University is actively developing in various spheres – information technologies, chemical industry, biomedicine, education, new energy sources, modern management systems and much more – we happily accepted the proposal to become a partner of the Antimonopoly Service in implementing the National Competition Development Plan. It is a big honour and big responsibility for us”, pointed out Rector of St Petersburg State University, Nikolai Kropachev.
