THE FIRST MEETING OF ERRA CONTACT PERSONS IN HUNGARY
The focus of attention – on prompt cooperation between agencies and important areas of ERRA work
The first meeting of contact persons of the Energy Regulators Regional Association (ERRA) took place on 5 June 2018 in Budapest, Hungary. FAS was represented by Yulia Tikhonova, a consultant of the International Information Communications Unit, Department for International Economic Cooperation.
The key items on the agenda concerned prompt cooperation between the regulators under ERRA umbrella, where contract persons of regulatory bodies play an integral role. Priorities in modernizing the approaches to member participation in ERRA, implementing innovative positions under the current tariff base and possibility to provide more complete information about regulatory bodies of ERRA member-states in the internet-environment were discussed.
Representatives of each regulatory agency reported on the current situation in their jurisdictions, and the forthcoming domestic and international events. Yulia Tikhonova described international events for 2018 supported by FAS, and possible cooperation options between ERRA members on the available training sites, both bilaterally and in an extended format.
Participants paid special attention to organizational aspects and the specifics of the next, 17th ERRA Conference on investments and regulating the electric power industry on 9-10 October 2018 in Antalya (Turkey).

ERRA is a voluntary non-profit, non-political organization, uniting independent bodies that regulate the electric power industries in the Central and Eastern Europe, West and East Asia, Africa and the Near East, the Commonwealth of Independent States, South and North America. As of today, ERRA comprises 31 full members and 10 associated members.
ERRA main objective is exchanging information and experiences between its members as well as expanding access to the accumulated experience of regulating the electric power industry all over the world.
Improving the national systems of regulating the electric power industry in the member-states is one of the main ERRA goals, as well as rendering help to ensure uninterrupted work of energy regulators that are assigned the power of self-governance, and improving cooperation between the energy regulators. ERRA also endeavours to expand interaction and information exchange, studying and adopting experience of the member-states, to ensure access to normative-legal information and the international experience, as well as provide training possibilities for the staff of regulatory bodies all over the world.
