ANDREY TSARIKOVSKIY: IF THE REGULATOR DOES NOT LISTEN TO THE MARKET, IT WILL NOT WORK LONG
Representatives of the pharmaceutical community and authorities exchange opinions at the Forum on ''Health Regulation in Heath Care: the Main Tasks of the Pharmaceutical Industry'' organized by FAS and its Centre for Education and Methodics on 3 October 2018 in Kazan.
The event was opened by Stats-Secretary, Deputy Head of FAS Andrey Tsarikovskiy.
Deputy Head of FAS outlined goals and objectives generally pursued by FAS on the pharmaceutical market: “It is not just decreased prices and increasing the level of competition but also increased medicine manufacturing and bringing them to the modern level. These are common tasks for all regulators”.
“We want to achieve unified opinion through vivid discussions. We want to listen to the market and market listen to us”, pointed out Andrey Tsarikovskiy, regarding the Forum goals. The organizers opted for the “live communication” format with representatives of the largest pharmaceutical companies, market regulators, experts and journalists.
“We have built a format of a discussion club. It works around the main areas of FAS work in the pharmaceutical industry, each of which has a special session: public procurement, cartels, intellectual property, medicine prices”, added Andrey Tsarikovskiy.
He informed the Forum about a recent Round Table on “Anticompetitive practices of global players on the pharmaceutical market (Big Pharma): a response of BRICS + competition authorities” that took place during “The Russian Competition Week”: “There was an interesting discussion and opinion exchange; speakers were Heads of competition authorities from BRICS and some other countries, representatives of the pharmaceutical industry. The time is now not for declarations but professional exchange of opinions and practices”.
“We have made a small step to achieve a big goal: creating conditions in Russia for reducing medicine prices, and, the most important, that all citizens of our country are able to get drugs that they need without any obstacles”, summed up the Forum results Deputy Head of FAS.
