FAS VERIFIED INFORMATION FROM MEDIA MATERIALS ABOUT GROWING AIR FARES IN THE FIRST MONTHS OF 2019

14-03-2019 | 16:07

The price growth in this period on average does not exceed 5%

The main reason is an increased fuel charge and reduced supply of discounted air tickets and promotions. FAS points out that the share of air tickets sale via the aggregator agencies does not exceed 30%. The main channel for selling the services of air carriers remain their own web-sites and offices.

According to aggregator agencies, the media report about increased “average” ticket” rather that air fares. The “average ticket” is influenced by such factors as: the number of passengers on order, flight distance, return ticket, additional services (hotel booking, car rent, transfers). Thus, an increased “average ticket” reflects   rather an increased demand for tourist services than growing airfares.

FAS will continue monitoring airfares on domestic routes in Russia.
