DOUBLE FINE UPON MEDICAL TOOLS SUPPLY CARTEL FOR FAILURE TO PAY

Tver District Court in Moscow imposed an over 86 million RUB administrative fine upon “Prommedzakupka” Ltd.

“Prommedzakupka” Ltd.took part in an anticompetitive agreement that resulted in maintaining prices through 360 open e-auctions forsupplying medical instruments and equipment for healthcare facilities.

“Prommedzakupka” Ltd.failed to pay an administrative fine over 43 million RUB within the statutory period and was held administratively liable for failure to pay - the fine that doubles the earlier imposed administrative fine.

Head of FAS Anti-Cartel Department Andrey Tenishev emphasized: “Market players should understand that it is better for them to act within the frame of the law, otherwise the losses form fines applied can  be many times higher than the benefits they expected to gain from a competition-restricting agreement”.
