FAS REFUTES INFORMATION ABOUT ITS APPROVAL OF INCREASED PRICES FOR SOME GOODS
A warning is issued to Executive Director of “Rusprodsoyuz” Association of Food Producers and Suppliers that such public statements are unacceptable
Due to disseminating information in mass media that suppliers of food products plan to increase ex-works prices by 5-20% for retail chains for such categories of goods as coffee, tea, spices, canned food, macaroni, baked products and fish, and that the increase was “endorsed” by FAS [1], the Antimonopoly Service would like to state the following:
FAS did not evaluate and did not approve any increase of prices for retail chains by suppliers.
Such public statements can result in growing prices and violating Articles 11 and 11.1 of the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition.
At the same time, FAS would like to remind that due to propagation of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19, the Antimonopoly Service is reinforcing its efforts to monitor prices for socially important products that include most of the highlighted categories of goods.
FAS shall check whether producers and suppliers that announced coordinated increases of prices violate the antimonopoly law.
