ON 11 APRIL SERGEY PUZYREVSKY WILL TALK ABOUT REGULATION DURING THE PANDEMIC

Legal solutions under the conditions of combating coronavirus will be discussed online at Petersburg International Legal Forum on 10-12 April 2020

 

Special Petersburg International Legal Forum 9½: The Rule of Corona will take place online on 10-12 April 2020.

 

On 11 April, at 10:45 a.m., Deputy Head of FAS Sergey Puzyrevsky will discuss the specifics of antimonopoly regulation during the pandemic. FAS and its regional Offices have to react immediately to the changes associates with COVID-19, especially on the markets that are of special importance for uninterrupted fucntionning of the national economy (medicinal drugs, medical equipment, food products, etc.)

 

The global competition community recognizes the need to make changes in its day-to-day work, aimed at searching the balance between supporting businesses that have to work in the course of the crisis, and supporting the population (preventing price increase and shortage of goods of prime necessity).

 

The participants will focus on the following agenda:

 

How should antimonopoly regulation be transformed in the age of the pandemic?

 

What new challenges do antitrust regulators face?

 

What new practices are already applied by both Russian and foreign regulators, and which are just being worked out?

 

The speakers include:

 

1. Sergey Puzyrevsky, Deputy Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) who will moderate the session;

2. Alexei Ivanov, Director, Higher School of Economics – Skolkovo Institute of Law and Development/BRICS Antimonopoly Centre;

3. Ioannis Lianos, President of the Hellenic Competition Commission.

Petersburg International Legal Forum 9½: The Rule of Corona – is a global discussion of legal aspects of social life amidst the COVID-19 pandemic that will bring together representatives of different legal professions from all over the world to develop legal solutions in order to counter the pandemic and its consequences. It is expected that Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev and senior officers from sector-specific government authorities will take part in the event.
