The Annual Conference of the International Competition Network (ICN) will be held on September 14-17, 2020. Due to the spread of the coronavirus infection COVID-19, this year the event will be transitioned to a virtual conference.

The first-ever virtual ICN Annual Conference will start on 14 September 2020 and last four days. The joint hosts, the US Department of Justice and US Federal Trade Commission, together with the ICN Working Group Co-chairs have organized a compact conference week and a series of additional sessions, which are linked to the main conference week but will take place later in the Fall.

The agenda of the Annual Conference will include traditional meetings of the ICN Working Groups (Advocacy, Agency Effectiveness, Cartels, Mergers and Unilateral Conduct), within which the participants will present annual work results.

Andrey Tsyganov, Deputy Head of the FAS Russia will become the main panelist at the Plenary session of the Cartel Working Group co-chaired by the FAS Russia. The Plenary session will be held under the theme: “Big Data and Cartelization”. Among other speakers one will see Gabriella Muscolo, Commissioner, Italian Competition Authority; Ioannis Lianos, President, Hellenic Competition Commission, Greece; Richard Powers, Deputy Assistant Attorney General, US Department of Justice, Antitrust Division; and Isabelle de Silva, President, Autorité de la concurrence, France.

The session will be devoted to the issue of digital cartels concluded with the use of algorithms or robots. The session will continue the discussions that formed the basis for the preparation of the ICN Cartel Working Group SG2 Project on “Big data and Cartels” aimed at the analysis of the impact of digitalization in cartel enforcement. The panelists will focus on biggest cases, as well as point out possible ways out how to deal with digital cartels both on domestic and international levels.

More information on the program will follow on the ICN webpage: https://www.internationalcompetitionnetwork.org/, as well as on the FAS Russia webpages in social networks: fas_time.
