BAYER WILL DELIVER BIOTECHNOLOGY TRAINING WORKSHOPS FOR RUSSIAN BREEDERS
Series of practice-oriented training workshops for Russian breeders participating in the technology transfer project will be held online from July 5 to July 12
The technological transfer is one of the conditions of the remedies issued by the FAS Russia to Bayer upon the consideration of the purchase of Monsanto. According to the remedies, Bayer is obliged to ensure the transfer of the molecular breeding agents and germplasm necessary for the creation of new varieties and hybrids of crops. The company undertakes to provide breeders with methodological materials and protocols of work, deliver training workshops for specialists in the field of accelerated breeding and finance the creation in Russia of a scientific and educational center for modern plant biotechnology.
"The FAS Russia is carrying out activities aimed at ensuring the execution of the remedies issued upon the approval of the Bayer/Monsanto transaction. Proper implementation of the remedies will increase the competitiveness of the domestic agrotechnical sector through the introduction of new technologies, deliver training workshops for specialists of Russian breeding companies in modern methods of plant breeding and ensure the transfer of agrotechnical data. In general, we are satisfied with the progress of the transfer process. This is a tangible result of the application of new approaches of the FAS Russia to the control over transactions of economic concentration of global companies"- said Gennady Magazinov, the deputy head of the FAS Russia.
