Andrey Tsarikovskiy had a working meeting with Head of India Competition Commission
Stats-Secretary, Deputy Head of FAS Andrey Tsarikovskiy discussed Russia-India antimonopoly cooperation with CCI Chairperson Devender Kumar Sikri
The meeting took place on 9 November 2017 at the V BRICS Competition Conference(8 - 10 November 2017) in Brazil.
The parties emphasized efficiency of bilateral cooperation with India Competition Commission: the antimonopoly authorities of the two countries hold regular consultations on devising joint approaches due to modern challenges. For instance, the agencies undertook efforts approving merger of Monsanto and Bayer, and develop algorithms and software to expose cartels.
FAS representatives discussed the latest changes in the competition law and the prospects of optimizing it, particularly, the marker system – the leniency programme successfully employed in India.
Andrey Tsarikovskiyreminded of the Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the field of competition law and policy of BRICS economies signed in St Petersburg on 19 May 2016 and emphasized the significance of establishing BRICS Coordination Committee as well as the Working Groups provided for by the Memorandum.
He thanked India Competition Commission for active involvement in BRICS Working Group for studying competition on the pharmaceutical markets and proposed to consider a possibility of organizing a meeting of Heads of BRICS competition authorities with representatives of the largest pharmaceutical companies at ICN Competition Conference in March 2018 in New Delhi, India.
Deputy Head of FAS reminded that the first session of the Working Group for studying competition on theautomotive will take place on 5-6 December 2017 in Moscow at the III Research-to-Practice Conference: “Antimonopoly policy: science, practice, education”.
Finally, the parties expressed hope for further productive bilateral as well as international cooperation.
