20th session of the Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Competition Law and Policy UN Conference on Trade and Development (IGE UNCTAD)
The 20th session of UNCTAD Intergovernmental Group of Experts (IGE) on Competition Law and Policy took place on July 20-22, 2022 in Geneva (Switzerland).
During the three-day meetings, a number of topical issues in the field of competition policy, antimonopoly enforcement and improvement of legislation were considered. Round tables were held on the relationship between competition policy, consumer protection and personal data in the digital economy, law enforcement in socially significant markets in the context of COVID-19, and the role of competition policy in supporting small and medium-sized businesses during the post-pandemic recovery period.
Representatives of FAS Russia presented reports on measures to support small and medium-sized businesses in the Russian Federation and on improving competition legislation and the practice of its application in the context of overcoming the consequences of the pandemic and economic restrictions.
Resolution of the 20th session of IGE UNCTAD established provisions for extending the mandate of the UNCTAD Working Group on Cross-Border Cartels, as well as continuing work on updating the mechanisms of international cooperation in the investigation of cross-border cartels.
