The number of petitions filed by foreign investors is going up

Currently FAS is considering 7 petitions.

In spite of the economic situation in the world, the number of transactions involving foreign investors is not dropping down. Each year the interest towards Russian strategic companies is only increasing, reported the Head of FAS Department for Control over foreign investments, Armen Khanyan.

He points out that “in 2015 the Antimonopoly Service considered 44 petitions, which is nearly 30% more that in 2014 when34 petitions had been filed. The geography of foreign investors did not change though. As before, FAS received petitions mainly from Cyprus, China, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, the US, France, Italy, India and other countries”.

In 2015 foreign investors were especially interested in natural monopolies as well as the companies that render services in the seaports of the Russian Federation; operate in the field of nuclear industry; or are licensed to work with infectious diseases, etc.

“This year, 2016, foreign investors also started rather actively. FAS is already considering 7 petitions”, said Armen Khanyan.
