Housing-and-utility sector as a unification factor
On 22 July 2016, Deputy Head of FAS Vitaly Korolev took part in a Coordination Meeting of the Heads of enforcement bodies of the Russian Federation. The event focused on combating crimes in the housing-and-utility sector.
Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, Yuri Chaika; the Minister of Interior, Vladimir Kolokoltsev; Director of the Russian Guard Federal Service, Viktor Zolotov; the Minister for Construction and Housing-and-Utility Sector, Mikhail Men’;top officers of federal bodies, representatives of the Office of the President of the Russian Federation and the State Duma took part in the event.
Participants evaluated efficiency of the inter-branch cooperation between regulators. A common opinion was reached that in spited of some positive results, the crime rate in the housing-and-utility sector foes not go down. It confirms the need to devise additional organizational measures aimed at enhancing efficiency of exposing, suppressing and investigating violations in this sector of the economy.
“Such an example of productive cooperation between law enforcement bodies and regulators is joint efforts of FAS and the Office of Prosecutor General under the frame of executing the instructions given by the President of the Russian Federation to verify whether the size of the fee for solid household waste treatment is justified, and compliance with the law in such activities”, said Vitaly Korolev. “A letter is sent to FAS regional Offices with the task to establish cooperation with the Prosecutors of the regions of the Russian Federation”.
According to Deputy Head of FAS, Regional Energy Commission and FAS Offices must present information to the Central FAS Office by 29 July 2016.
