Beacon for the forestry industry in Perm
The “Road Map” for organizing exchange trading with timber is devised for the Perm region
“Test trading should take place before the end of the year”, decided the participants of the workshop on exchange trading with the forestry products.
The key speakers were the Head of FAS Department for Control over Construction and Natural Resources, Vladimir Kudryavtsev, and the Head of FAS Department for Regulating Fuel-and-Energy Complex, Dmitry Makhonin.
“Trading with wood products is of significant importance for the Perm region”, stated Vladimir Kudryavtsev. “The Antimonopoly Service considers exchange trading as a priority. The procedure helps achieving goods transparency, get delivery guarantees and enables building up exchange indicators, which positively influence competition development”.
Participants discussed both Russian and forewing experience. In particular, they analyzed the practice of timber exchange in Belarus, Germany and Denmark.
A decision is made to form a specialized Working Group at the Perm Chamber of Industry and Commerce and devise a detailed “Road Map” to introduce exchange trading in the region. SPIMEX declared its readiness to open an official representative office in the region.
Summing up the results of the event, Dmitry Makhonin pointed out that the mechanism proved to work excellently in other sectors of the economy, including the market of oil products. “Our objective is to organize test exchange trading in the next several months. The Perm region can become the driver of this process”.
