Another million RUB fine for Google

FAS held “Google Inc” and “Google Ireland Limited” administratively liable for failure to execute determination within the designated period. Each company is fined 500,000 RUB.

Earlier FAS rejected companies’ petitions to prolong the period for executing the determination on a case on violating the antimonopoly law.

On 18 September 2015, FAS found that “Google Inc” and “Google Ireland Ltd.” violated the antimonopoly law by abusing dominance (Part 1 Article 10 of the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition”) and issued a determination to eliminate the violation. The company disagreed with the FAS decision and appealed it at the Arbitration Court and the 9th Arbitration Appeal Court.

The Courts fully supported the FAS decision.

“Investigating the administrative case, FAS established that failure to execute FASA determination by the companies deteriorated competition on the market.  Still “Google” continues its anticompetitive practices”, said Head of FAS Department for Regulating Communications and Information Technologies, Elena Zaeva.
