FAS summed up the results of the second stage of an international comparative analysis of drug prices
To execute the instructions given by the President of the Russian Federation, the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) researched prices for medicinal drugs to treat HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C as well as antibacterial and tuberculosis medicines
The study findings showed that, in general, prices for the above drugs were 29% below the lowest prices in 38 countries, while on 58 medicine items prices in Russia turned out to be the lowest across the analyzed countries. At the same time, FAS found lower prices in some reference countries for 95 drug items.
“For all cases when the maximum manufacturer’s ex-works prices registered in Russia exceed the lowest prices in the reference countries, FAS plans to undertake a set of measures to reduce them to the identified lowest level”, emphasized Head of FAS Department for Control over Social Sphere and Trade, Timophey Nizhegorodtsev.
