Dmitry Vasiliev: electric power tariffs in the Murmansk region are some of the lowest
Economically efficient monopolies operate in the region
“The Murmansk region is in a good position. First of all, in the electric power industry”, emphasized Head of FAS Department for Regulating the Electric Power Industry, Dmitry Vasiliev. “It is an energy-excessive region, economically efficient nuclear and hydro generation prevail”.
“Currently, the Murmansk region has some of the lowest tariffs. This is a unique situation because in spite of the lowest tariff there are preconditions not to increase it in the future”, said FAS representative at a regional workshop in Moscow.
Dmitry Vasiliev reminded that in December 2016 FAS approved the decision of Murmansk Regional Tariff Regulation Committee to reduce the electric power tariffs for consumers of technologically isolated villages – Chavan’ga, Chapoma, Tetrino, Pyalitsa of the Tersky District, the Murmansk region. The costs of electric power for consumers that do not fall in the “population” category are reduced from 20.53 RUB/kWh to 7.95 RUB/kWh.
He stated: “The decision will have a significant impact upon financial-and-economic activities off all companies and organizations in the Tersky District and create conditions for further development of business in remote villages of the Murmansk region”.
