FAS will search options for regulating relations between market participants under remaining misbalance of interests and rights

“Inadequate fines set by retail chains, unrestrained discount requirements may lead to new amendments to the Law on Trade”, said Deputy Head of FAS Andrey Kashevarov at an expert discussion on “Government regulation of trade operations and self-regulation mechanisms. Balance searching for sectoral development. Examples of retail self-regulation” at the Russian Retail Week.

He emphasized that discount requirements by retail chains adversely affect consumers since producers have to decrease the product quality to meet retailer requirements.

Andrey Kashevarov pointed out that the Antimonopoly Service is interested in searching options to regulate relations between retail chains and suppliers / producers, particularly, in the field of self-regulation, maintaining misbalance of the rights and interests of market participants.
