Andrey Kashevarov chaired a session of the Committee on Protecting FIFA Property Rights
The Committee on Protecting FIFA Property Rights had a meeting on 6 June 2017 prior to FIFA 2017 Confederations Cup
Attendees included representatives of FAS, Rospatent, the Federal Customs Service, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Sport, “Russia-2018” Steering Committee” Autonomous Non-Profit Organization, the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).
The agenda included pressing issues of enforcement, associated to the arrangements for using FIFA symbols. The Committee summarized the results of the works of the law enforcement bodies on suppressing production and sales of counterfeit.
The attendees emphasized the positive role of the Federal Customs Service in use of international interdepartmental contacts to protect Russian market from counterfeit products: at the meeting with the Federal Customs Service in Krasnoyarsk in May 2017 arrangements were reached on exchanging information with the customs bodies of China.
The Committee suggested that the law enforcement bodies should focus on the market segments for most vulnerable unfair businessmen, particular, through scheduled and unscheduled inspections.
Representatives of the authorities that took part in the meeting confirmed the readiness of bodies to continue active efforts on exposing and suppressing violations in Russia in line with the obligations undertaken by Russia in the part of protecting FIFA brand.
The Committee on Protecting FIFA Property Rights at the Committee on Protecting FIFA Property Rights is formed upon instruction of First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Igor Shuvalov.
The Committee on Protecting FIFA Property Rightsis an interdepartmental working coordination body formed at the Working Group (operational Headquarters), of the Steering Committee of the programme for organizing FIFA World Football Cup in 2018 in Russia to execute the Government guarantee given by the Russian Federation to FIFA, for coherent interaction of the authorities, local self-government bodies, other coordination and advisory bodies, working groups and organizations involved in organizing event of 2018 FIFA World Football Cup ™ and FIFA 2017 Confederations Cup, on protecting FIFA property rights.
A special No. 108-FZ Federal Law “On organizingFIFA 2018 World Cup, FIFA 2017 Confederations Cup in the Russian Federation and making amendments to some legislative acts of the Russian Federation” of 7 June 2013 specifies the list and a special procedure for using symbols of FIFA, 2018 FIFZ World Cup and FIFA 2017 Confederations Cup.
