The Federation Council supports FAS draft law on foreign investments

The draft law is designed to improve the investment law and provides for amendments to Nos. 160 and 57 Federal Laws

On 12 July 2017, the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation unanimously approved FAS-drafted and submitted by the Government   No. 788849-6 Federal Law “On introducing changes to Article 6 of the Federal Law “On foreign investments in the Russian Federation” (No.160-FZ Federal Law) and the Federal Law “On the procedure for foreign investments in economic entities of strategic importance for national defence and state security”  (No.57- FZ Federal Law).

According to an official representative of the Government of the Russian Federation for the draft law to the Chambers of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Deputy Head of FAS Andrey Tsyganov, the draft law is designed to improve the investment law in order to ensure national defence and state security, as well as to better understand the investment process in the strategic sectors by foreign investors and Russian companies.
