FAS representative discussed cartel exposing practice
Head of the V Unit, FAS Anti-Cartel Department, Tahir Scherba, shared FAS approaches on cartel exposure, the latest enforcement practices and some FAS initiatives on strengthening with the participants of the Round Table on “Anticompetitive agreements: delineating elements of violations and enforcement practice”.
On 24 October 2017 representatives of “VEGAS LEX” law firm and FAS organized a Round Table in Moscow on: “Anticompetitive agreements: delineating elements of violation and enforcement practice”. More than 150 persons attended the event including: corporate counsels, staff of the national antimonopoly body, Eurasian Economic Commission and various business communities.
“VEGAS LEX” attorneys described the types of competition restricting agreements: delineating elements of violations, differentiating liability and qualification issues.
The speakers discussed in detail “vertical” agreements, prohibited agreements with public authorities, and enforcement trends.
Representatives of the antimonopoly body presented different cases and answered questions from the participants regarding pressing issues of exterritoriality, exposure methods and controversies and proving cartels.
“Discussing prohibitions of cartels and other anticompetitive agreements by representatives of national and supranational antimonopoly bodies is an important element of the work towards preventing and suppressing cartels”, emphasized Tahir Scherba.
