FAS BEGINS DEVELOPING ON-EXCHANGE TRADE WITH MEAT AND FISH

On 1 October there were the first kick-off meetings on systemic development of on-exchange trading with fish products, other aquatic biological resources and meat*

The advantages of exchange trade were discussed with the concerned federal executive bodies and market participants.

Representatives of three exchange sites described the accumulated experience of exchange trade with meat and fish and the prospects of developing such trade.

For example, in May 2015 the electronic auction site for trading aquatic biological resources was launched.

Overall, in 2016 - 2019, according to one of the exchange sites, the volume of aquatic biological resources sold through on-exchange trade has reached 2016 tons.

“Our main task now is to explain the advantages of on-exchange commodities trade and the positive effects of selling them on-exchange”, emphasized Head of FAS Department for Control over Fuel-and-Energy Complex and Chemical Industry, Dmitry Makhonin.

As a result of the discussion, a decision was made to form Sub-Committees of the Exchange Committee to develop trade with these commodities.
