ROMAN SEMYONOV ABOUT ANALYSIS OF INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC PROCUREMENT PRACTICE
A FAS representative took part in a WTO “public procurement workshop” in Vienne
On 10 - 12 December 2019, the World Trade Organization held a “public procurement workshop” for Central and Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia in Vienna (Austria). The focus was on: activities of the World Trade Organization (WTO), regional development and procedural aspects for transitional and developing economies.
The Federal Antimonopoly Service was represented at the event by Roman Semyonov, Deputy Head of FAS Department for Public Procurement Control.
The workshop objective was exchanging information and experiences in the field of public procurement policy and problems, and the role of public procurement in trade and economy.
The workshop participants learned about the work of WTO and EBRD on public procurement, including trade, proper public administration and sustainable development, with potential benefits and challenges concerning access and execution of the Agreement on Government Procurement (GPA). There were also discussions on methods and procedures a well as international and regional development standards and trends in public procurement.
Commenting the event outcome, Roman Semyonov said: “WTO public procurement workshop in Vienne is useful in terms of simplifying policy analysis and constructing a dialogue within the public procurement system at both the national as well as the international levels”.
