The Association of E-Commerce Companies made this statement in a letter to FAS

According to the letter to FAS, the companies - members of the Association are doing everything possible to provide high-quality services and affordable prices for buyers.

Members of the Association assured FAS that they are aware of their responsibility to buyers. To this purpose, e-commerce marketplaces restrict speculative prices through automatic blocking of sellers’ goods with signs of such prices, introduce stricter control and create additional services enabling buyers to complain about overrated prices.

The Association confirmed that its actions will facilitate stabilization of pricing on the market of consumer goods and the Association is ready to share information with the antimonopoly authority about all incidents of fixing speculative prices for essential goods.

Head of FAS Department for Control over the Agro-Industrial Complex, Anna Mirochinenko, pointed out: “Due to petitions from retail chains and individuals about the facts of reselling goods at overrated prices through online-services, FAS has approached the Association of E-Commerce Companies and recommended its members to take into account the factors that can lead to increasing prices for consumer goods. It is important that all market participants have taken our recommendations in the right spirit and are employing measures designed to prevent an unreasonable growth of prices in such a difficult economic situation in Russia”.
