Krasnoyarsk OFAS suppressed unfair conduct of a local retailer. In the course of monitoring prices for socially important food products in stores in Krasnoyarsk, Director of one of the largest Krasnoyarsk retail chains informed the regional OFAS that in January - March 2020 prices for these types of goods had not changed. Analyzing the requested documents, OFAS found that the retail chain had increased prices for granulated sugar, sunflower oil, pasta, peeled buckwheat, flour, table salt and millet.
Director of the retail chain was held administratively liable and fined for submitting knowingly false data. After OFAS intervention, product prices returned to the previous levels.
Head of FAS Anti-Cartel Department, Andrey Tenishev emphasized: “FAS expects that this incident will serve as an example for other retailers in the region that deception of the antimonopoly body is unacceptable. The decision to conceal actual data or present distorted information to FAS in any case will be exposed and result in administrative liability and reputational losses”.
