FAS REPRESENTATIVES TO TAKE PART IN THE 14 ANNUAL COMPETITION POLICY CONFERENCE ORGANIZED BY THE COMPETITION COMISSION OF SOUTH AFRICA
On November 3-4, the representatives of FAS will become speakers of the 14th Annual Competition Law, Economics and Policy Conference organized in the online format by the Competition Commission of South Africa.
The theme for this year’s Annual Competition Conference is “Competition in a crisis: Competition policy, regulation and enforcement in unprecedented times”. The broad theme of the Annual Competition Conference is the impact of the pandemic on the competition space and the challenges for competition regulation and enforcement during the pandemic and state of national disaster, and the challenges and opportunities that firms, the competition authorities and the government more broadly will face in the course of the economic recovery from the pandemic.
A key area of debate is how to approach the recovery of the economy and what role should competition policy and regulation play in this regard.
The Conference participants will focus on the following specific areas: competition and violations of antimonopoly legislation in crisis, price gouging and excessive pricing, failing firms, support of SMEs.
Academics, private practitioners and competition officials, both with a legal and an economic background are welcomed to take part in the Conference.
