BRICS COMPETITION AUTHORITIES TO HOLD THE MEETING OF THE WORKING GROUP IN AUTOMOBILE MARKETS EARLY NOVEMBER
On November 5-6, the BRICS Competition Authorities will hold the meeting of the Working Group in automobile markets in a format of videoconference.
The first day of the event will be devoted to a discussion of the general competition issues faced by the BRICS Competition Authorities in the automobile markets: both in the markets for the assembly and production of cars and the aftermarket.
During the second day of the meeting of the Working Group, the participants will discuss the interim status of the preparation of the BRICS Competition Authorities’ Report on the issues of competition in BRICS automobile markets, the preparation of which is supervised by the competition authorities of India and South Africa, as co-chairs of the automobile BRICS Working Group.
The Report will provide a comparative analysis of the general characteristics of the automobile markets of the BRICS countries, as well as consider specific competition problems notable for the BRICS automobile markets as a whole and separately, and present possible solutions of the identified problems.
In addition, a separate part of the Report will be devoted to the development of the institution of self-regulation of the automobile industry in the BRICS countries, taking into account the successful experience of introducing the Codes of Good Practices for car manufacturers in Russia and South Africa.
The meeting will be attended by the representatives of the FAS Department for International Economic Cooperation, Anticartel Departemt and the Department for Industry Control.
