FAS RUSSIA CONDUCT ANTI-CARTEL INSPECTIONS OF THE LARGEST TRADE NETWORKS
Due to citizen appeals received by the FAS Russia containing information about price increases in federal trade networks as well as in order to prevent an unjustified increase in the cost of socially significant food products, the FAS Russia conducts unscheduled on-site checks against X5 Group (Pyaterochka, Perekrestok, Karusel trade networks), Lenta LLC and Tunder JSC (Magnit trade networks) for anti-competitive collusion, the consequence of which may be an increase and maintenance of prices
As part of the ongoing inspections, the FAS Russia will assess the pricing of the largest retail chains, as well as study the reasons for possible unjustified price increases.
If there is a violation of the prohibitions established by the Law on Protection of Competition in the actions of the inspected persons, a case will be initiated on violation of antimonopoly law, and companies may face a turnover fine of up to 15% of annual revenue. The turnover of the audited organizations by the end of 2020 exceeds 4 trillion rubles.
The conclusions about the presence or absence of violations of the antimonopoly law in the actions of the inspected persons will be made by the authority based on the results of verification measures, as well as an analysis of all information received by the FAS Russia.
