FAS INITIATED PROCEEDINGS IN THE GLASS MARKET AGAINST A.J.C. FLAT GLASS WEDGE AND PILKINGTON GLASS
As the costs of building materials, including flat glass increase, FAS conducted market studies and found that the market of flat glass is highly concentrated.
Several manufacturers, including A.J.C. Flat Glass Wedge LLC and Pilkington Glass LLC hold a collective dominant position in the market.
Thus, according to Rosstat, the price of flat glass increased by 90% in August 2021 in comparison to August 2020.
The studies showed that the price of flat glass increased at a faster pace, while the increase in production cost was insignificant.
According to FAS, it indicates the presence of unreasonably high extra charge on products manufactured by companies. In this regard, FAS initiated an antimonopoly case.*
If the organizations are found liable, they will face turnover fines in accordance with the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation. It should be noted that earlier the authority initiated cases on the grounds of abuse of a dominant position by the companies Salavatsteklo and Guardian Glass.
