FAS DRAWS ATTENTION TO THE NEED TO COMPLY WITH THE PRINCIPLES OF RESPONSIBLE PRICING IN THE SUGAR MARKET

14-03-2022 | 15:11

In connection with the receipt of complaints about the increase in selling prices for sugar, FAS notes that the creation of an artificial shortage of products in order to maintain high demand and inflate prices is unacceptable.

When planning the shipment of goods, enterprises should respect the interests of market participants, taking into account production and logistics capabilities. It is unacceptable to infringe the interests of market participants by reducing the volume of supply or refusing to supply products under existing contracts.

In case of detection of violations of antimonopoly law, including unjustified price increases, FAS immediately adopts corresponding measures.

At the moment, sugar reserves are sufficient to meet domestic demand, there are no shortage risks.

It should be noted that on behalf of the Government of the Russian Federation, FAS, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture have worked with retail chains to expand the initiative of voluntary restriction of trade margins on a number of socially significant goods, including sugar, to 5%. The Auchan, Atak, OK, Magnit, Karusel, Perekrestok and Pyaterochka retail chains have already joined the initiative.
