FAS KEEPS THE COMMUNICATION SERVICE PRICES UNDER CONTROL

18-04-2022 | 17:18

FAS has developed a document as part of the implementation of the Priority Action Plan*.

Thus, FAS will assess the compliance of tariff changes with the inflation rate (consumer price index**). If the level of tariff increase is exceeded, the Authority will analyze the economic reasonableness of its change.

The guidelines also stipulate the obligation of telecom operators to notify the Authority of planned tariff changes 14 days in advance.

If, according to the results of the analysis, it is found that the level of tariff changes does not correspond to the consumer price index, FAS will take antimonopoly response measures - the initiation of antimonopoly cases.

The methodological recommendations will ensure the balance of interests of consumers and telecom operators, as well as make tariff formation for communication services more transparent.

* A plan of priority actions to ensure the development of the Russian economy under external sanctions pressure, which provides for the introduction of a mechanism for phased indexation of tariffs of telecom operators taking into account the current level of inflation, prepared by the Government of the Russian Federation on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation

** according to Rosstat data for the period from the beginning of the current year as of the last week of the month in which the tariff change occurred
