FAS ISSUED AN ORDER TO ROSCONTROL ON PROHIBITING THE USE OF PREFIX "ROS-"
FAS has issued an order to legal entities* included in the Roscontrol project on the need to stop violating antimonopoly law. The use of the name “Roscontrol” on the packaging of the goods may form a misconception about the passage of special state control over the goods. At the same time, the Roscontrol quality assessment system is of a commercial nature and has no relation to the state authorities.
According to FAS, the illegal use of the prefix “ROS-” in the name of the system is an act of unfair competition, since it misleads consumers. It may also lead to a decrease in demand for the services of competing companies in the market of voluntary certification systems.
In 2021, FAS issued a warning to legal entities included in the Roscontrol project about the need to stop such practices. The organizations did not comply with the warning of FAS. For this reason, the agency initiated an antimonopoly case, based on the results of consideration of which it established the fact of violation of the law** and issued an order to terminate the use of the “ROS-” element in the individualization of the “Roscontrol” system.
