FAS: THE FIRST STEP HAS BEEN TAKEN TO LAUNCH ON-EXCHANGE TRADING OF METAL PRODUCTS

The first meeting of the subcommittee of the Exchange Committee of FAS Russia on the metal products market was held

The launch and development of on-exchange trading in the metal products, as well as the draft of the corresponding Action Plan ("roadmap") were discussed within the framework of the event. First of all, it is planned to determine a list of goods with standardized, similar properties ("commodity"), in the markets where it is advisable to develop exchange trading.

According to FAS Russia, the development of on-exchange trading will create an economically sound indicator of the cost of the metal products and provide an additional sales channel for entrepreneurs, including small and medium-sized businesses. It will also contribute to the formation of conditions for concluding transactions that are uniform for all participants in the metal products markets. In addition, this mechanism allows you to track the goods all the way from the manufacturer to the buyer, effectively combat unfair practices and minimize risks for the participants of the transaction.

Besides the representatives of the antimonopoly authority, the meeting was attended by representatives of the Bank of Russia, SPIMEX and the market participants.

The next meeting of the subcommittee will be held on July 14, 2022.
