FAS: RUSSIA WILL PROVIDE METHODOLOGICAL ASSISTANCE TO MYANMAR IN CREATING A COMPETITION AUTHORITY

It was discussed during the Russian-Myanmar Business Forum at the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry

The Federal Antimonopoly Service was presented by Igor Prokhorov, Head of the St. Petersburg FAS Regional Office. He noted that competition is an essential part of the market economy, and the FAS Russia is interested in developing Russian-Myanmar cooperation in the field of competition policy.

The speaker noted that the Russian Competition Authority has extensive experience in antimonopoly regulation of commodity markets and combating anti-competitive practices and is ready to share experience with foreign colleagues for the development of trade and economic ties between the countries.

As the representatives of the Myanmar delegation noted, their state is at the stage of forming a competition authority and will gratefully study the experience of the FAS Russia. They also expressed hope for the expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation in this field and stressed that it will contribute to the economic growth of both states.
