FAS PROPOSED TO DEVELOP STANDARDS FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION IN THE INVESTIGATION OF CROSS-BORDER CARTELS
This initiative was outlined by Andrey Tsyganov, Deputy Head of FAS Russia, at a meeting of the UNCTAD Working Group on Cross-Border Cartels
During the event, the UNCTAD Secretariat recommended UN member-States to discuss further directions of the Working Group's activities and presented a report on its work over the past period.
In the development of the recommendations set out in the report, Andrey Tsyganov proposed to work out the issue of creating globally recognized UN standards for the exchange of experience in the investigation of cross-border cartels.
It will increase the effectiveness of detecting cross-border cartels and will provide an opportunity for UN member-States to supplement the legal framework with the necessary tools of cooperation used in such investigations.
The meeting was attended by more than 50 experts from the UN member-States, including representatives of the competition authorities of the BRICS countries, EAEU, as well as several scientific institutions and the BRICS Competition Law and Policy Center.
