Retailers have kept margins on certain items of socially significant goods up to 10 %, as well as up to 5 % on some items

ATAK and AUCHAN stores provided the authority with a list of 2,882 items of goods with limited marginal trade margins, broken down by region. According to retailers, products subject to restrictions are demanded by consumers*.

FAS Russia supports responsible behavior of retailers. According to the authority, the restriction of trade margins on socially significant products will increase the availability of food products for citizens. At the same time, the authority emphasizes that prices for such goods are not regulated by the state – the initiative of retail chains to limit the level of margins is voluntary.

Recall that AUCHAN and ATAK were among the first companies inform FAS Russia that they are taking on additional voluntary obligations to limit margins to 5 % on certain items of 4 groups of goods (bread and bakery products, dairy products, granulated sugar and "borscht set"). Retailers also set margins of no more than 10 % for a number of individual items within each category of socially significant goods throughout 2022.

Reference:

* For example, the share of apples, potatoes, cabbage, carrots, onions and beets with a limited margin is up to 75 % of the total, rye bread, rye-wheat bread, as well as bread and bakery products made of wheat flour – up to 30 %, other categories of socially significant food products – slightly less than 15 %.
