FAS RUSSIA PARTICIPATED IN THE APEC FORUM
Interaction between competition authorities allows an effective information exchange on current trends in antimonopoly regulation
The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum aims to share experiences, strengthen mutual trade and support economic growth in the Asia-Pacific economies.
APEC also hosted a meeting of the Competition Policy and Law Expert Group, where competition agencies discussed amendments and novelties in competition law over the preceding year.
In particular, a representative of FAS Russia outlined the agency's priorities in the field of competition policy.
The agency is actively working on the implementation of the National Competition Development Plan for 2021-2025. The document contains a list of measures, including those aimed at supporting small and medium-sized businesses, ensuring effective management of state and municipal property as well as digitalizing antimonopoly and tariff regulation.
FAS Russia developed the so-called "fifth antimonopoly package" aimed at suppressing abuses of dominance by owners of digital platforms.
In addition, the agency is implementing measures aimed at preventing price increases, shortages of goods on socially important markets and maintaining a fair competitive environment.
At the end of the meeting the importance of continuing international cooperation within the APEC framework was stressed. Such interaction within the framework of the forum allows sharing vast and diverse experience in antimonopoly regulation and contributes to uncovering transnational cases in the economies of the Asia-Pacific region.
