FAS RUSSIA TOOK PART IN THE UN TRADE FORUM
The event is held every two years to discuss the specifics of the trade and economic policy of the UN member states
During the forum sessions, the participants considered factors contributing to economic development and discussed measures to promote a sustainable environment, including effective competition policy and work to increase trade ties between developing countries, including through the provision of trade preferences.
Besides, within the framework of the event, a session was held on the role of competition policy in achieving the goals of sustainable environmental development. Representative of FAS Russia told about the activities of the authority within the framework of the implementation of the provisions of the national project "Ecology", which is being implemented pursuant to the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation* since 2018.
Its main task is to reduce the volume of municipal solid waste (MSW) disposal and improve the environmental situation in the country.
As part of the implementation of this project, the authority participates in the creation of a regulatory framework, the preparation of draft laws in the field of ecology and analyzes markets related to MSW.
In addition, one of the key areas of activity of the authority is the suppression of monopolistic activities in the market for the treatment of MSW and the detection of violations and collusion at relevant auctions.
The event was attended by representatives of antimonopoly regulators, consumer protection authorities, as well as other agencies of more than 40 UN member states.
