STATE CREATED MECHANISM TO PROTECT DOMESTIC AGRICULTURAL INDUSTRY FROM THE VOLATILITY OF FOREIGN MARKETS

Since 2021, prices for mineral fertilizers for farmers have been fixed

It enabled to provide Russian agricultural producers with mineral fertilizers in the required volumes at affordable prices, which is especially important during the period of conducting and preparing sowing campaigns in conditions of high demand. It was announced within the framework of the SPIEF-2023 by Vitaly Korolev, Deputy Head of FAS Russia.

According to Rosstat, due to the measures taken, 3.43 million tons of mineral fertilizers were applied to the soil in 2022, which is an absolute record for the last 30 years, and a record-breaking grain harvest was got, in net weight it amounted to 153.83 million tons, which is 26.7 % more than in 2021.

FAS Russia conducts operational monitoring of prices for mineral fertilizers on a weekly basis. According to the results of the analysis, violations on the part of producers of mineral fertilizers were not revealed.

Vitaly Korolev noted that the fertilizer market continues to develop. In addition, there is competition between fertilizer producers, even taking into account the restrictions imposed.

Besides, a new investment cycle is beginning in the industry, within which it is planned to invest more than 2 trillion rubles in development until 2028. These investments will significantly increase production capacity and fully meet the growing demand for fertilizers.

In conclusion, Deputy Head of FAS Russia noted that the new investments will allow the state and producers of mineral fertilizers to solve common tasks, for example, to create new jobs and improve working conditions.
