FAS: IT IS NECESSARY TO STRENGTHEN CONTROL OF ONLINE ADVERTISING AND ADVERTISING OF FINANCIAL SERVICES

19-06-2023 | 14:56

It was announced by Tatiana Nikitina, Head of the Department for Control over Advertising and Unfair Competition, at the XIII International Scientific and Practical Conference on Competition Policy in Voronezh

In 2022, one of the most common violations of the law were in the advertising of financial services, which contained incomplete information about their conditions, as well as in materials that were distributed over telecommunication networks without the consent of the subscriber. FAS Russia received more than 12 thousand applications on such violations.

As part of preparation of the first amendments to update the Law on Advertising, FAS Russia is developing amendments to article 28 of this law regulating the advertising of financial services and financial activities.

Control of advertising of bankruptcy services is still an urgent issue – unscrupulous advertisers position bankruptcy as an unconditional debt release with a guarantee of property preservation. And it does not comply with the current legislation and in some cases can be considered as misleading citizens.

FAS Russia has strengthened control over the advertising of bankruptcy of individuals. Since November 2022, the regional offices have been carrying out the order of the authority on the need to take measures provided for by law to suppress such advertising.
