FAS ISSUED WARNING IN CONNECTION WITH A PUBLIC STATEMENT ABOUT THE INCREASE IN AIR TICKET PRICES

Such forecasts were announced by the co-owner of Azimut Airlines, co-owner and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vnukovo International Airport in the media

On July 13, 2023, a number of media outlets quoted a statement with a forecast of an increase in air ticket prices.

The authority notes that such statements may be perceived as an incentive to take action to raise prices by economic entities operating in the market for the sale of air tickets and air transportation.

The authority recalls the prohibition of coordinated actions of competing economic entities if such actions lead to setting or maintenance of prices (tariffs), discounts, allowances (surcharges) and (or) margins*. In addition, the Law on Protection of Competition prohibits actions that may lead to the setting and maintenance of monopolistically high prices**.

FAS Russia warns about the obligations of strict compliance with the requirements of the antimonopoly legislation. In case of detection of signs of illegal behavior and the establishment of economically unreasonable prices by individual companies, FAS Russia will immediately take measures of antimonopoly response and suppress abusive practice.
